This is our OFFICIAL WorldShare Interlibrary Loan message for Oklahoma from OCLC.
The WorldCat Resource Sharing interlibrary loan service your library receives is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. The Oklahoma statewide OCLC Group Services contract will be replaced by a new service OCLC WorldShare™ Interlibrary Loan, in 2013. Through the continued support of IMLS, WorldShare™ Interlibrary Loan will deliver new and expanded functionality that supports evolving workflow changes such as the option to purchase needed materials instead of borrow them.
The WorldShare Platform will support the service’s interoperation with other applications, such as the display of lender costs from the OCLC Policies Directory and display of item availability from a library’s ILS.
Initial release of the new service is planned for March 2013. Between March and December 2013, the WorldCat Resource Sharing and WorldShare Interlibrary Loan services will operate in parallel. Access to WorldCat Resource Sharing is scheduled to end December 31, 2013.
With consideration for seasonal activity levels, the transition schedule for libraries currently enrolled in the Oklahoma OCLC Group Services contract has been planned for August/September 2013.
*Note: Though open migrations in the US begin in March, we strongly recommend that you wait to migrate with your group.
Kitty Pittman is working closely with OCLC to schedule training for Oklahoma library staff to support your transition to the new WorldShare Interlibrary Loan service.
